Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

Program Management Support

  • Review and update current managerial tools and information such as budget trackers, work plans, and activities in the donor portal.
  • Support the development of project proposal budgets and budget reviews.
  • Support the development of project monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) plans and Log Frames focused on the achievement of the project results.
  • Coordinate the timely submission of project work plans, detailed implementation plans and costed work plans and assist with the preparation of project presentations, with charts, graphs.
  • Support the technical, operational and other components for the start up of the SAY WEE project.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of work plans, budgets and associated proposal and project documents to the Country Director for onward submission to the donor.
  • Negotiate, develop and execute agreements, including sub agreements and modifications in collaboration with the Grants and Contracts (G&C) team, as needed.
  • Support the G&C team to conduct due diligence on the sub-awardee/local partner.
  • Work with the local partner to develop their Scope of Work, work plans, budgets and other deliverables.
  • Support project start up by reviewing project proposals and documents, maintaining key proposals and files, and facilitating the review, updating, and processing of agreements and contracts, etc.
  • Manage assignments of selected consultants and fellows, providing feedback on deliverables and work planning as needed
  • Work with the operations team to mobilize requirements for new SAY WEE project and support set up of new office in Kano as well as other relevant start up operations in project states as needed
  • Serve as hiring manager for the additional roles required for the SAY WEE and new project.
  • Draft Job Descriptions (JDs) for the additional roles being hired and work with the HR specialist to ensure timely recruitment of required positions.
  • Act as interim project manager for other projects, as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree (BSc) in Social Sciences, Business Management, Agriculture, Economics or a relevant field. A Masters’ degree in a relevant field is desirable, but not required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience with a BSc. is required or 5 years’ experience with a Masters degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Related work experience and knowledge of the Nigerian economic, social and development context preferred.
  • Experience in leading/managing donor funded projects required.
  • Knowledge of the private sector/SME landscape in Nigeria and/or anglophone West Africa preferred.
  • Good experience in working with FCDO and UNICEF funded projects.

Required Languages: Fluency in English is required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills in a multicultural
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines while managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to develop well written, cohesive analyses and reports.
  • Proven experience managing and motivating teams.
